Sous le patronyme de Doracor, se dissimule en réalité un multi-instrumentiste de grand talent, qui répond au nom de Corrado Sardella. Ayant tout conçu, tout réalisé seul à l'aide de synthétiseurs, synthétiseurs basse et batterie synthétiseurs, le musicien atteint avec cet enregistrement un résultat proche d'un groupe de musiciens. L'illusion est à de nombreaux égards parfaite car jamais ici on n'est gêné par une quelconque froideur, une musique glaciale et sans âme. On se trouve rapidement sous le charme d'une musique aux grandes qualités mélodiques dont certaines compositions évoquent parfois le Tony Banks de Wind & Wüthering ou le Mark Kelly de Misplaced  Childhood. Une musique joyeuse, étincelante, vivante, pétillante. Foisonnement d'idées, inspiration mélodique, exécution irréprochable. Un CD à découvrir, sans plus attendre.

Valorizzato da una copertina a dir poco meravigliosa, il disco di esordio del tastierista romano  Doracor interpreta con scrupolosa eleganza le più ardite evoluzioni del pop barocco degli anni settanta, alternando momenti di fatato romanticismo con audaci saggi di perizia strumentale. Il filo rosso che lega questi suoni allo stile degli Yes, delle Orme  e via dicendo, appare evidente, anche se il merito fondamentale dell'eccentrico musicista non è tanto quello di saper creare atmosfere di indubbia forza evocativa, quanto l'abilità di gestire, in perfetta solitudine, una polimorfica massa sonora, con il solo aiuto di una tastiera che riproduce alla perfezione i suoni dei vari strumenti. Certo, si potrebbe obiettare che le percussioni si fanno sorde attraverso i gelidi fili del campionatore, ma non si può d'altra parte sottovalutare l'incisività dei tempi dispari e, più in generale, la capacità di mantenere desto lo spirito creativo, attraverso l'intero svolgersi di un pur corposo disco strumentale.

Is keyboardist  Corrado Sardella a member of a band from which he took a temporary leave to produce this totally solo keyboard-orgy of an album? I don't know, but i do know that he thanks such bands as The Flower Kings,  Covenant, Arena and IQ in the liner notes for their inspiration, and that the influence of each of those bands is very palpable here. In fact, one might even go so far as to say that The Long Pathway is an instrumental tour-de-force almost custom made for fans of the above bands who a) don't mind doing without vocals for a while and b) aren't too bothered by sixty-minutes of digital rather than kit drumming. Doracor's is an elaborately fanciful music, with structures, melodies and moods very much in keeping with the not exactly original fantasy cover. The plurality of tracks trade in stately, imperial analogue-synth themes, accompanied by piano, organ, some digital synthesis, and surprisingly full-sounding digital bass. he best thing about these pieces is that rarely slides into arbitrariness. Like Nighttales, another new keys-based instrumental project, Doracor  produce a highly romantic, tonally comfortable and non-envelope pushing symphonic prog that will appeal to many fans of mainstream progressive rock.
